Guide to Wahaca Mexican Restaurant in Covent Garden, London
Page Content
Wahaca is gaining a reputation in London as a high quality and affordable place to head for a Mexican feast. This is the original branch of a chain that was set up by Thomasina Miers (an old Masterchef champion). The moment that you step through the doors of Wahaca, you know that you are somewhere special. The décor is influenced by the Mexican cuisine without looking like a theme restaurant - the walls are brightly coloured, and there are chilli pots on each table. The menu offers you more than the usual fajitas and nachos, teaching you about authentic Mexican specialities (I'm a particular fan of the steak burrito). Little touches add to the experience - you can pick up a free Wahaca newspaper, and the restaurant's business card contains free chilli seeds so that you can grow your own plant.
It's important to remember that Wahaca don't take bookings. So at busy times, you may have to wait until you get a table. However, this shouldn't be too much of a struggle once you're sitting at the bar with a margherita and some homemade nachos.
